Number Plates in Gateshead

From Gateshead it is a straight run south on the A1, past the Angel of the North, to Junction 62 and Dragonville Industrial Park in Durham. We make number plates there while you wait, without an appointment, between 9:00am and 4:30pm, Monday to Saturday.

What a visit involves

You hand two documents across the counter, we record them and give them back, and the plates are made in front of you, usually about ten minutes for a pair. What we need is one document proving your name and address, and one proving you are entitled to the registration, which for most people means a driving licence and a V5C logbook.

Ordering online first is worth it if you want the plates fitted as well: choose collection and the whole thing, made and fitted, can be done within the hour of ordering. Delivery is the slower route, a few days, because the documents have to reach us first.

Fitting and aftercare

Fitting is £9.99 a plate, £19.98 a pair, Monday to Friday. Sticky pads are the default recommendation and leave no holes, with screws, plate holders and velcro as alternatives. If you want cover against theft, loss or damage afterwards, the protection plan is an add-on rather than something bundled in.

The styles we make

All of them road legal, all built to the British Standard, BS AU 145e, and none of them show plates or tinted plates:

Legal flag options cover the Union Flag, St George's Cross, the Saltire, the Welsh Dragon and the Green Flash EV identifier, and every combination is road legal. Shapes run from standard UK through shortened, hex, square 4x4, oversize, trailer and motorbike to Japanese import sizes.

Private registrations

We sell registrations as well as making plates: over 74 million DVLA registrations to search and 60,000+ pre-owned registrations, covering dateless, prefix, suffix and current style. Coming in means you can have the assignment explained rather than working it out from a website, and see a 4D laser cut plate before you commit to one.

The legal side

By law our name, postcode and BS AU number go on every plate, in Charles Wright characters on reflective BS AU 145e material. Spaced, tinted and show plates are not made here whatever the vehicle or the occasion.

How assignment works

The registration is assigned by the DVLA rather than over our counter. Their online service is open 7am to 7pm daily and needs the V5C and either a V750 or a V778, with the vehicle taxed and MOT'd. For anyone who would rather not, the Done-For-You Paperwork Service works from a photograph of the V5C and our admin team does the rest.

Looking after 3D and 4D plates

Raised characters need a little more care than a printed plate when it comes to washing, and the cleaning guide explains what to avoid so the finish lasts.

What you will pay

Plates begin at £29.99 for a printed pair, more for 3D gel and the 4D styles, with fitting at £9.99 a plate. Registrations start at £250, the £80 DVLA fee included, and go up with how sought after the combination is.
